[ARCHIVED] Weather Related Office Closing

The National Weather Service has put out the following winter storm warning. With the winter storm warning in place the El Paso City Hall will be closed Wednesday, February 2nd to Thursday, February 3rd. City Hall will still be available by phone. If anyone is in  need of shelter please call (309)527-4005 or (309)660-4417. For further information on the weather please go the National Weather Service website. The City of El Paso is requesting to please not travel during the storm if you don’t have to. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the El Paso City Hall at (309)527-4005.

Petersburg, Winchester, Jacksonville, Springfield, and Decatur

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING
TO 6 PM CST THURSDAY...
 
* WHAT...Heavy snow and sleet expected. Total snow accumulations
of 5 to 17 inches, with the higher totals favoring locations
near Interstate 72. Sleet accumulations of between 1/10 and 2/10
of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
 
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central and west central
Illinois.
 
* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 6 PM CST Thursday.
 
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute. Power outages may also occur.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
