Responsibilities

The city clerk's office maintains, protects, and preserves the official records of the city. The city clerk is designated the freedom of information officer and coordinates requests for records in accordance with the Illinois Open Records Act and the city's records management program. The city clerk also assists the city administrator in preparation of the city budget.

This office also provides governmental services to residents and support services to the governing body and other city departments. The city clerk attends all governing body meetings and keeps record of the proceedings and coordinates legal publications.
