Baughman Cemetery is located in section 3, Panola Township, Woodford County, Illinois.  It is located 7 miles north and 2 miles east the intersection of Routes 251 and 24 in El Paso.  Woodford County coordinates 1700N and 2900E.

The following readings are not the official records but are readings and research by David W. Fever, El Paso, the  majority of this information came from research of Mr. William J. North.

Baughman Cemetery was recorded in 1979 by William J. North of Bloomington, IL and his work is available at the El Paso Public Library and at the Woodford County Historical Society in Eureka.

Per Mr. North's work 'The Baughman cemetery was deeded to the cemetery association on December 29, 1877 by John Baughman.  One-half acre plot was a gift; the rest was purchased by the association.'

History of the Baughman Cemetery, (part of a little Mennonite Community), the following was provided by Kenneth Baughman of Monticello, Illinois in 2005.

The Baughman Cemetery was founded when sister Lena Baughman died of black dyptheria (polio) at the age of 6. Her funeral was held in the barn.

Barbara Krehbiel was the wife of Jacob Naffziger, a Mennonite Minister and brother of Peter the Apostle Naffziger. The first burials were of Naffziger children.

John Baughman moved on the farm in 1860 apparently after the Naffzigers lived there. John Baughman married Catherine Naffziger, twin sister of Phoebe Naffziger Roth who is also buried there.

The Reuvenachts and the Roths were neighbors. Anna Ruevenach married Joseph Baughman a son. They moved to Zion and joined the Dowdy Church.

The Roth descendants moved to near San Antonio and became wealthy in the oil business.

Dan Baughman DVM was founder of one of the largest animal pharmaceutical companies in the world, Fort Dodge Laboratories.
