Mission Statement
The mission of the El Paso Public Library is to provide a helpful and friendly environment for all people of all ages to access and enjoy the world of information, to support learning in all its many forms, and to be a partner with other community organizations.
 
Policies and Programs
Listed below are general policies, programs, and information about the El Paso Public Library.  Please checkout our website for more detailed information at www.elpasopubliclibrary.net.   

The El Paso Public Library was established in 1873 by the Ladies Library Association.  The current historic building was built in 1906 with money donated by Andrew Carnegie.

Checkout Policy:

At the El Paso Public Library you may check out:

  • Books for 2 weeks
  • Audiobooks for 2 weeks
  • Magazines for 1 week
  • DVDs for 1 week, for  $.50 
  • Wii games for 1 week, for $1.00

 All materials may be renewed.

Overdue materials will be charged at the following rates:
             .05/day for books, audio books, magazines and board games
             .50/day for DVD’s.

Children's Story hour.

Children ages 2 ½ - 5 are invited to register for this fun time of games, songs, stories and crafts. We meet at 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays and Thursdays from September to April.

Lapsitter Program

Children 9 months to 24 months are invited to come with a parent to hear stories, sing songs and do a simple craft.  We meet at 9:30 on the third Tuesday of every month.

Summer Reading Program.

All patrons are encouraged to participate in our summer reading programming. We kick off in early June and activities continue through July including story hours and craft days for the younger readers and games and programs for the whole family. Prizes are awarded for reaching goals as well as for completing the program.


Homebound Program. 

We provide delivery service for our homebound patrons.


Equipment Available for Public Use
Photocopier
available for public use at 15 cents per side.

Fax machine
– available for public use at 50 cents per page sent and 25 cents per page received.

Computers. We have two computers for public use. All have word processing programs. A DSL connection to the Internet is available on each of the computers.

We also have a wireless wi-fi network. You can bring your laptop to the library and access the internet for free.

Printed scans and copies: 15 cents per page for black and white.

Interlibrary loan.

The library will try to order any book for you to borrow that we don't have, according to the interlibrary loan guidelines.

Tax forms.

Tax forms are available during income tax season. We have several forms to give away, as well as two books of reproducible forms (federal AND state forms) from which you may make photocopies.
